About Keely, the Stylist
Keely Smith is a licensed cosmetologist with seven years of experience in the industry and is currently training for her state certification as a makeup artist. In January 2007 she graduated from the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN as a licensed cosmetologist. Since then she has worked in two Aveda salons before opening up her own business this year, Kee Hair & Makeup Artistry.
Besides completing her initial training at the Aveda Institute, Keely has also taken several of the Aveda continuing education classes over the years to keep up to date on the latest trends and techniques in the art and science of hair coloring, cutting and styling. She also has had training in a range of other hair and makeup techniques to include period hairstyling/makeup, theatrical hair/makeup, and wigs.
Furthermore, Keely enjoys putting her more unique training to work on creative projects such as theatre and film. Most recently she has worked on a local documentary ("Wired: The DeKalb Documentary" directed by Shela Lahey), has done several commercial shoots, and regularly volunteers in community theatre at Stage Coach Players Theatre in DeKalb, IL.
